Diseases and Conditions

Monday, March 9th, 2009

There are many diseases and conditions which afflict portions of society.  There are many reasons and many unknowns as to the cause, who is susceptible or how or why one person suffers and another does not.

The main culprits appear to be:

  • Nutritional Deficiency
  • Compromised Immune System
  • Infectious Diseases
  • Obesity
  • Toxins
  • Life Style (smoking, overeating, drugs and alcohol, lack of exercise)
  • Genetics (which can be affected by all the above)
  • Stress

Nutritional Deficiencies:

The simplest example of nutritional deficiency conditions are Scurvy, rickets and night blindness.  Scurvy is a disease caused by deficiency of vitamin C, characterized by spongy and bleeding gums, bleeding under the skin, and extreme weakness.  A simple condition to treat. Sailors suffered from this on long voyages without fruits and vegetables.  Once the cause for scurvy was discovered, they started to include citrus fruits in their diets – nutrition problem solved.  Rickets is another nutritional deficiency condition of “soft bones” caused from lack of vitamin D.  Night blindness is caused by a vitamin A deficiency…

Compromised Immune System:

Immune systems can be compromised (weakened) by a number of factors.  Vaccines / immunizations can severely compromise immune systems, you won’t hear that from health care providers though.  There are numerous “conditions” and “afflictions” due to vaccines – rather contradictory to their intended purpose of supposedly assisting the immune response to certain “invaders” of the body.  Gulf war syndrome is an example of many maladies that occur after mass innoculation or inoculation of military personel.  The theory is, introduce live or dead pathogens (bacterial, viral, fungal…) and the immune system will recognize and know how to fight the pathogens.  The theory is good but in reality it actually reduces the overall immune response to many bodily invaders.  The link between autism and mercury in vaccinations has finally come out from the medical establishment.  Poor nutrition and bad lifestyle choices also affect overall immune function / response.

Infectious Diseases:

Infectious diseases are caused by bacteria, viruses, fungus, yeasts and molds that are foreign to the human body.  In some cases, they do exist within the body but are under control of the immune system until something sets them off.  Due to the overuse of antibiotics, some infectious agents have become immune to pharmacological anti-virals and anti-biotics.  In the news lately is MRSA – methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (staph infection).  These superbugs as they are referred to are posing serious chalenges to “modern” medicine.  MRSA kills more Americans every year than HIV/Aids!  The shocking fact is the majority of MRSA infections are acquired in hospitals!  “Modern medicine” has nothing to fight MRSA but there is a natural substance that can – it is allicin, the active ingrediant in garlic.  This amazing natural antibiotic/antiviral/antifungal/anti-yeast supplement can be found here.

Obesity:

Obesity puts a strain on all body systems, not just the skeletal support system.  Adversely affected systems include skeletal, digestive, circulatory, lymph / immune system, nervous system, pulmonary, skin…  The effort expended digesting, removing toxins, strain on joints, heart, lungs could well be used for healing and normal body functions.  One of the reasons people over eat is because the necessary nutrition is not in the food.  Junk food, soft drinks, processed foods (in a box, can or bag), white sugar, white flour, white bread are the main culprits.  Completely devoid of nutrition, fiber and enzymes, these “foods” place additional strain on the body to digest and eliminate these poisons.  Metabolic enzymes are used for digestion rather than for their metabolic function – repair and healing…

Toxins:

Toxins are everywhere and inescapable, air, water, soil, food, detergents, cosmetics, personal products…  The majority of toxins are man-made.  There are over 70,000 man-made toxic chemicals.  The result is a multitude of diseases and conditions from cancer, heart disease, auto-immune disease, allergies, birth defects, DNA damage…  Our bodies have the capabilities to remove toxins from our bodies if our bodies are working correctly and have the support they need (nutritional, exercise, sleep, healthy immune system…).

Life style:

Life-style contributes to good or bad health.  Smoking, overeating, stress, and lack of exercise are the main lifestyle culprits.  Fast food, junk food and soft drinks are lifestyle choices that cross the nutrition / obesity / toxins / life-style boundaries.  Choices you have control over.

Genetics:

Genetics lead to predisposition to many diseases and conditions.  By making healthy choices you can help your body fight mutation and repair DNA.  Obviously, once you have a severe genetic condition, there is little you can do.  You can help your body deal with lesser conditions by making healthy choices on exercise, nutrition, detoxification and stress relief.

Stress:

Stress is extremely detrimental to all facets of your physical, mental health and well-being.  Stress can be avoided or minimized by how you perceive and react to your situation.  Mindset is very important (glass half full or half empty…).  Ther are many ways to dealing with stress, meditation, exercise, deep breathing and grasping the truth that you have control over how you perceive and react to all situations.  The best stress and mental health tool I have come across is the
ICAP Release Meter.

Digestive Enzymes

What Are Enzymes?

Enzymes are energized protein molecules that carry the body’s life force. They are involved in every action and reaction that occurs in every single function and cell of the body. We cannot live without enzymes. If we suffer from enzyme deficiency, our health deteriorates. Degenerative diseases are a direct result of insufficient enzyme levels. All other nutrients such as vitamins, minerals and also hormones need enzymes to carry out their functions. Enzymes are the body’s labor force. The life energy of enzymes is what sets enzymes apart from all other nutrients.

Types of Enzymes

Enzymes fall into three basic catagories of enzymes:

1. Metabolic Enzymes – These reside in your body and their function is to build and repair cells and tissues. They are also a large part of our immune systems. Metabolic enzymes carry out the body’s work.

2. Food Enzymes – These enzymes reside in raw food (not cooked or processed). Food enzymes aid in the digestion and assimilation of the food’s nutrients. Heat of over 118 degrees fahrenheit will destroy live enzymes.

3. Digestive Enzymes – These enzymes assist in the breakdown of cooked (or dead) food. Cooked food has no live enzymes to assist in the breakdown of the dead food so the body must supply the enzymes. Digestive enzymes are limited in the body and if pushed beyond their reserves will borrow from the metabolic enzymes which sets the cycle for degenerative disease.

Diagram Human Digestive System

digestive system diagram Digestive Enzymes

As you can see in the above diagram, The human digestive system is very complex. There are many parts with different functions that all contribute to the desired final result – complete digestion and absorbtion of the nutrients from the food we eat. With todays “modern” foods, it is obvious as to why we need to supplement with a digestive enzyme formula. This digestive system blend must contain at least, the 7 main digestive enzymes to ensure complete digestion and utilization of food nutrients. Without it, we are destined to suffer from digestive system problems.
Why Supplement with Digestive Enzymes?

If you eat cooked or processed food, you need additional digestive enzymes. Our bodies were not designed to eat dead food. The act of eating dead food places an additional workload on the body’s stores of digestive enzymes and after some time, will be required to “borrow” from the body’s metabolic enzymes. By depleting the metabolic enzymes, you are now setting yourself up for degenerative diseases.

There are only two animals on earth that suffer from degenerative disease and premature death – mankind and our pets. This is a direct result of our “dead food” diets and digestive enzyme deficiency. Aside from cooking food, irradiation, pasturization (which is cooking = dead milk), processing and chemical food additives all destroy enzymes. You can see why our bodies cannot keep up with their repair and rebuild functions.

It is estimated 65 million Americans suffer from digestive problems. Antacids, laxatives, fiber, prescription and over the counter medications are used to mask the real problem – insufficent digestive enzymes and incomplete digestion of food. These products alone fill an entire isle in the grocery and drug stores. Antacids are actually the worst thing you can take as far as digestion of food. It neutrilizes your stomach acid which is an essential part of the digestion process. Now the body has to work even harder “trying” to breakdown the food in the intestines (food is supposed to be mostly broken down before it hits your intestines). Incomplete digestion causes many ailments further down the line (intestines) and affects the entire body’s health.
Seven Digestive Enzymes and What They Aid

1. Protease (digests proteins): anxiety, low blood sugar, kidney problems, water retention; depressed immunity, bacterial and viral infections, cancer, appendicitis, bone problems such as: osteoporosis, arthritis, and bone spurs.
2. Amylase (digests carbohydrates): skin problems (rashes, hives, herpes, canker sores), liver and gallbladder disease.
3. Lipase (digests fats): high cholesterol, obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular problems, high blood pressure, chronic fatigue, spastic colon, and dizziness.
4. Cellulase (digests fiber): gas, bloating, acute food allergies, facial pain or paralysis, candidiasis (yeast infections).
5. Sucrase (digests sugars): lung problems, asthma, bronchitis, seizures, hyperactivity, mood swings, insomnia, depression, chronic diarrhea, and dizziness.
6. Lactase (digests dairy products): Relieve discomfort caused by lactose intolerance
7. Invertase (breaks down sugars): Splits sucrose into glucose and fructose – an acidic environment occurs without the action of Invertase.

In Europe, martial artists use enzymes to speed up recovery from injuries. On average, the recovery time is cut in half. An injury that would sideline an athlete for 2 weeks would now only take 1 week before they are healed! Enzymes are the “repairers” of the body. Enzymes taken on an empty stomach go straight to the blood to digest undigested food particles in the blood and tissues, repair tissues, attack parasites and more.
