How to protect yourself from radiation poisoning could save your life and/or prevent a radiation induced cancer. In light of the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear plant disaster in Japan as a result of the 9.0 earthquake and tsunami, you better have a plan for dealing with radiation exposure. The partial meltdown, hydrogen explosions, pressure releases and steam and core breaches have released radiation into the atmosphere. This will affect the entire planet. Japan will suffer with the highest radiation exposures but the trade winds will carry the radiation around the globe.
At this point in time, we have been told radiation releases have been minimal. First off, I don’t believe them. Second, radiation at even low levels can cause cancer (especially thyroid cancer), damage DNA and unleash oxidants / free radicals within our bodies. Children, pregnant mothers and their fetuses are the most vulnerable. DNA damage to fetuses can cause birth defects and cancers.
The most vulnerable point of the body to radiation poisoning is the thyroid gland. Radioactive iodine collects in the thyroid (90% of people are iodine deficient so there are many iodine receptors open to the radioactive iodine). The best protection is avoid radioactive iodine all together – unfortunately, this is not an option for all exposed.
Radiation pills as they are called are generally potassium iodide (KI), sometimes an inferior potassium iodate (KIO3) is sold (stay away from potassium iodate unless that is all that is available). Iodine pills help by filling up the thyroid iodine receptors with radiation free iodine so it can not uptake radioactive iodine (a preventative). In order for this to work, potassium iodide must be taken before exposure to radiation. If the thyroid is saturated with non-radioactive iodine, the radioactive iodine will not be absorbed by the thyroid and therefore protecting it.
When to Take Potassium Iodide
Upon government notification of dangerous radiation levels in your area:
Daily dosage of Potassium Iodide for thyroid protection
Adult is 130mg potassium iodide
Age 3 to 18 – 65 mg
One month to three years – 32 mg
Birth to 1 month – 16 mg
Taken daily – until authorities announce that there is no more risk for exposure. If you have a thyroid issue, consult a doctor before supplementing with potassium iodide.
Only take potassium iodide at these dosages for short periods of time during imminent radiation exposure – government warning or other credible warning FOR YOUR AREA. Generally, no more than 2 weeks at a time.
Potassium iodide only protects your thyroid against radioactive iodine (iodine 131) – the thyroid is the most vulnerable part of the body to this type of exposure, fortunately it is the most common type of radiation released. The half life of radioactive iodine is 8 days. Other types of radiation potentially released from nuclear reactors is cesium (cesium 137) and plutonium. Potassium iodide will not protect you from these forms of radioactive materials.
Some have been touting “don’t take potassium iodide ever” because of a few individuals have adverse reactions. I have taken potassium iodide in the past and had zero side effects. Your choice if you want to take a chance at radiation poisoning or cancer. Of course, if you have been advised by a doctor to avoid iodine because of a thyroid condition or adverse reactions then don’t take it.
A natural source of iodine which will do the same as supplementing with radiation pills is kelp or seaweed. They naturally contain iodine and are considered health foods but you don’t know the amount of iodine you are consuming. You can also buy kelp or seaweed supplements which state on the label the amounts of iodine they contain. Remember, iodine is necessary for life, just don’t over do it.

The bill sounds good, who doesn’t want safe food? The devil is in the details. If we do not become the next third world country, it will be amazing. I am certain they will dictate, er um, I mean manage “food safety” well too.

(NaturalNews) The Food Safety Modernization Act looks like it’s headed to become law. It’s being hailed as a “breakthrough” achievement in food safety, and it would hand vast new powers and funding to the FDA so that it can clean up the food supply and protect all Americans from food-borne pathogens.
There’s just one problem with all this: It’s all a big lie.
Here are the ten biggest lies that have been promoted about S.510 by the U.S. Congress, the food industry giants and the mainstream media:
Lie #1 – Most deaths from food poisoning are caused by fresh produce
Here’s a whopper the mainstream media won’t dare report: Out of the 1,809 people who die in America every year from food-borne pathogens (CDC estimate), only a fraction die from the manufacturer’s contamination of fresh produce. By far the majority of food poisoning is caused by the consumption of spoiled processed foods, dead foods and animal-human transmission of pathogens.
For example, one of the largest food-borne killers according to the CDC is Toxoplasma gondii, a disease that people acquire from cat feces coming into contact with their food, which can happen right in their own homes (http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/eid/Vol5no5/mead.htm#Table%203). Salmonella poisoning accounts for 553 deaths a year. As a reference for relative risk, over 42,000 people die each year from road accidents in the USA, meaning driving a car has a roughly 7600% higher chance of killing you than eating fresh produce. In terms of food-borne illness, many of the deaths come from things like spoiled tomato sauce, spoiled canned foods and spoiled pasteurized milk. S 510, of course, does absolutely nothing to address these food contamination deaths, since those foods are considered “sterilized” at the time of sale.
Lie #2 – Under S.510, the FDA would only recall products it knows to be contaminated
Not true. S.510 merely requires the FDA to have “reason to believe” a food is contaminated. So right there, that means all raw milk will be targeted by the FDA because even without conducting any scientific tests at all, the FDA can say it has “reason to believe” the milk is contaminated merely because it is raw.
In other words, the FDA no longer needs science to outlaw a food product. It merely needs an opinion.
Is this “reason to believe” section really true? Yep, and here’s how it was amended:
SEC. 208. ADMINISTRATIVE DETENTION OF FOOD.
23 (a) IN GENERAL. – Section 304(h)(1)(A) (21 U.S.C.24 334(h)(1)(A)) is amended by
(1) striking ”credible evidence or information indicating” and inserting ”reason to believe”;

In other words, in negotiating this bill, the U.S. Senate removed the requirement that the FDA needed “credible evidence” in order to recall a product and, instead, replaced that with the FDA only needing “reason to believe.”
It is utterly amazing that the U.S. Congress would give the FDA to conduct large-scale product recalls and even imprison people based entirely on what the agency “has reason to believe.”
Last time I checked, the FDA held some pretty bizarre (if not downright moronic) beliefs, including this jaw-dropping whopper: The FDA literally believes that there is no food, no herb, no vitamin or supplement that has any ability to prevent disease of any kind. They don’t even believe limes can prevent scurvy, and you’d have to nutritionally illiterate to believe that.
The FDA believes foods are inert and that all the amazing phytonutrients in those foods (carotenoids, antioxidants, therapeutic fats like omega-3 and so on) are utterly useless for human biology.
This belief, held by the FDA that has now been put in charge of the food supply, is the belief system of an insane government agency that has completely lost touch with reality while abandoning nutritional science.
Lie #3 - They didn’t tell you that nearly 70% of grocery store chickens are contaminated with salmonella every day
Yep, it’s true: Amid all the fear-mongering over salmonella, everybody forgot to notice that the vast majority of fresh chickens sold at grocery stores every single day are widely contaminated with salmonella (http://www.naturalnews.com/028661_chickens_salmonella.html). Yet S 510 does absolutely nothing to address this. It’s not even mentioned in the bill.
In fact, it is these contaminated chickens that end up cross-contaminating the fresh produce in many kitchens across America. So the so-called “food poisoning” that’s often blamed on spinach or onions often originates with the contaminated chicken meat people bring home and slice on their kitchen cutting boards.
Lie #4 – S.510 will exclude and protect small farmers
The Tester Amendment, which was finally included in S.510, excludes farmers who sell less than $500,000 worth of food each year from the more onerous paperwork and compliance burdens described in the bill. But this dollar amount is not indexed to inflation, meaning that as the U.S. dollar continues to lose value due to the Federal Reserve counterfeiting machine running at full speed (more “quantitative easing,” anyone?), food prices will continue to skyrocket — and this will shift even small family farms into the $500,000 sales range within just a few years.
In fact, a single-family farm with just four people could easily sell $500,000 worth of fresh produce a year right now, even before inflation. Remember, $500,000 is not their profit, but rather the gross sales amount. The profits on that might be only $50,000 or even less.
Furthermore, this $500,000 threshold means that small, successful farms that are doing well and would like to expand will refuse to hire more people or expand their operations. To avoid the tyranny of S 510, small farms will try to stay small, and that means avoiding the kind of business expansion that would create new jobs.
Lie #5 – The FDA needs more power to enforce food safety
The FDA already has the power to effectively recall foods by publicly announcing a product has been found to be contaminated. The FDA already has the power to confiscate “misbranded” products, too, and it could easily use this power to halt the sale of contaminated food items.
But the FDA simply refuses to enforce the laws already on the books and, instead, has sought to expand its power by hyping up the e.coli food scares. The ploy apparently worked: Now in a reaction to the food scare-mongering, the FDA is being handed not just new powers, but more funding, too! And you can bet it will find creative new ways to put this power to work suppressing the health freedoms and food freedoms of the American people.
Lie #6 – Fresh produce is contaminated because of a lack of paperwork
There is no evidence that requiring farms to fill out more paperwork will make their food safer. The real cause of produce contamination is the existence of factory animal farms whose effluent output (huge rivers of cow feces, basically), end up in the water supply, soils and equipment that comes into contact with fresh produce.
The food contamination problem is an UPSTREAM problem where you’ve got to reform the factory animal operations that now dominate the American meat industry. S.510, however, does absolutely nothing to address this. Factory animal farms aren’t even addressed in the bill!
Lie #7 – The American people are dying in droves from unsafe fresh food
The truth is that Americans are dying from processed food laced with toxic chemical additives, not from fresh, raw produce. Partially-hydrogenated oils, white sugar, aspartame, MSG and artificial food colors almost certainly kill far more people than bacterial contaminations.
The American public is also dying from pharmaceuticals — anywhere from 100,000 to 240,000 people a year are killed by FDA-approved drugs (http://www.naturalnews.com/001894.html), most of which have been approved under the guise of blatantly fraudulent science and drug company trickery. The FDA doesn’t seem to mind. Lie #8 – The FDA just wants to make food “safer”
Actually, the FDA wants to make the food more DEAD. Both the FDA and the USDA are vocal opponents of live food. They think that the only safe food is sterilized food, which is why they’ve supported the fumigation, pasteurization and irradiation efforts that have been pushed over the last few years.
California almond growers, for example, must now either chemically fumigate or pasteurize their almonds before selling them (http://www.naturalnews.com/021776.html). This has destroyed the incomes of U.S. almond farmers and forced U.S. food companies to buy raw almonds from Spain and other countries.
Lie #9 – Food smuggling is a huge problem in America
One of the main sections of S.510 addresses “food smuggling.” Yep — people smuggling food across the country. If you’ve never heard of this problem that’s because it’s not actually a problem.
Not yet anyway.
But there’s a reason why they put this into the bill: Because they’re probably planning on criminalizing fresh produce and then arresting people for transporting broccoli with the “intent to distribute.”
Yep, farmers bringing fresh produce to sell at the weekend farmer’s market could soon be arrested and imprisoned as if they were drug smugglers. Hence the need for the “food smuggling” provisions of S.510.
Soon, we will all have to meet in secret locations just to trade carrots for cash.
Lie #10 – S.510 will make America’s food supply the safest in the world
Actually, even with S.510 in place, America’s food supply is among the most chemically contaminated in the world, second only to China. You can find mercury in the seafood, BPA in the canned soup, yeast extract (MSG) in the “natural” potato chips, and artificial petrochemical coloring agents in children’s foods.
Eating the “Standard American Diet” is probably the single most harmful thing a person can do for their health. It’s the fastest way to get cancer, diabetes and heart disease. Every nation in the world that begins to consume the American diet starts to show record rates of degenerative disease within one generation. This is the “safe food” that the U.S. Senate is now pushing on everyone.
Remember, with S.510, SAFE = DEAD. And the FDA says it wants to keep everybody safe.

Sounds strange doesn’t it? One would swear that salt is a 4 letter word with all the “medical” recommendations for a low sodium diet. Actually, what most people use for salt (table salt) is a highly refined sodium chloride. It doesn’t even resemble natural salt which is sea salt or from ancient salt deposits (from former seas or oceans).
True salt contains every mineral the body needs. Salt water minerals are even in the exact proportions the body requires – how perfect is that? My revelation was being on a “healthy” low fat, low sodium, high fiber diet – I was constipated – it didn’t make sense! I read an article from a natural health practitioner that said constipation can be from lack of salt in one’s diet. I drank a glass of salt water and the next day I was fine.
Highly refined salt is stripped of all the other minerals and you are left with sodium chloride and some chemicals to keep it dry and from clumping – (love those non-natural chemicals in my foods). This form of “salt” is toxic and out of balance (sodium / potassium balance is important – as is calcium / magnesium balance) with what our bodies require. They add iodine to table salt because it is stripped out and it is very important to health – iodized salt. The sodium chloride form of salt can raise blood pressure. It is not natural, you don’t need it.
Real salt is good for you and there is no need to watch how much you consume. Look for a good sea salt or crystal form like Himalayan sea salt (an ancient salt deposit). Salt does not need to be white. Often it is gray in color or even pink – that is from the minerals. Sea salt can even be damp – that is natural.
As always, it is only when humans “refine and improve” something that it becomes unnatural and it’s benefits fade. Natural salt is one of the things that should be left as is so you can reap it’s benefits and should be in your salt shaker.
You can actually die from lack of salt. Think about it, when you sweat, you are losing salt – right? Without replacing it, you are subjecting your body to functioning without electrolytes. When athletes sweat a lot their muscles cramp up from lack of salt which are electrolytes. Electrolytes conduct electricity. There are thousands of sunscreens and sunblocks out there. The vast majority of them are loaded with carcinogenic chemicals (cause cancer) - kind of defeats the purpose of protecting skin from skin cancer doesn’t it? The Sun is Good for You
If you listen to the TV, radio, print media, medical journals, you would swear sunlight is your worst enemy! Nothing could be further from the truth. Think about it. The promotion and use of sunscreen over the last 30 years has been universal. During this same time, the most common skin cancers, basal cell cancer, squamous cell cancer, and melanoma have also risen. Why would they rise if more and more people are “protecting” their skin with sunscreen lotions and sunblock lotions?
Unless you have been living in a cave, you could not have avoided all the press about the health benefits of vitamin D. D3, the natural form is best. The best way to obtain vitamin D is to expose your skin to 10 to 20 minutes of direct sun, without suntan lotion or sun block. THEN use an organic sunscreen (which is also a biodegradable sunscreen) to prevent sun burn and skin damage. The sun is only strong enough during the summer to produce vitamin D through your skin (converts cholesterol to vitamin D). Vitamin D is a powerful cancer fighter and preventer also. So by blocking the sun, you are blocking the production of vitamin D. During all other seasons, supplement with vitamin D3.
The sun’s rays are many but as far as sunburn goes, UVA and UVB (ultraviolet radiation A & B) are the culprits. The sun protection factor – SPF is the rating of the blocking of UVA and UVB rays. Why has congress opted out of this program if it is so wonderful? It is good enough for everyone but them. Even President Obama says he would not participate in this socialized medicine program. Call it what it is, Socialized medicine. Look how well it is working in Canada and the UK. Panels that determine what your life is worth and whether you get life saving treatment or not.
Did I mention these socialized programs are going broke? What then? Where are we going to come up with doctors for 46 million additional people? Who would want to become a doctor when the government decides to save health care dollars by limiting your salary (it is in the plan).
Don’t allow this administration to take away ANOTHER right from you. We are losing our rights at an unprecedented rate in the history of the United States of America. Take a stand for your health care freedom and all your freedoms (at least the one’s that are left).
Health secrets – what are they and why are they secret? Actually they are not secret at all, just not well known. Even most medical doctors lack the knowledge to obtaining and maintaining good health. It is not taught in medical school or their other college courses. It is not taught in our public schools so how would we know how to obtain optimum health? The knowledge is not provided by any government agency, how would one know?
Yes the government and other health related agencies push their agendas and mediocre at best health tips and advice. The food pyramid is a perfect example of bad information. Recently revised food pyramid pushes carbohydrates, tells people to shy away from meats and fats which are essential to good health (sorry vegetarians – you are operating under bad knowledge). Too many carbs are bad. Notice how we are getting fatter and heart disease, cancer and diabetes is growing?
How many times have they retracted their statements on health? Eggs are bad – nope eggs are good, butter and lard are bad, use margarine and vegetable oil – wait, margarine and vegetable oil are hydrogenated oil / trans-fat – causes inflammation clogs your arteries and veins. Dairy must be pasteurized and homogenized(per FDA) – changing the milk into Franken-proteins which wreak havoc on our digestive systems and bodies – not to mention the antibiotics and hormones pumped into the cows. Milk is not even a good source of absorbable calcium. This “health knowledge” is pushed by whoever funds the study (profit or control is the motive) – not your best interest.
With our ever increasing knowledge of health, why the increase in allergies, heart disease, digestive problems, diabetes, autism, ADHD, depression, anxiety… Why the need for drugs which only treat symptoms, they don’t fix a thing. Ever look at the over the counter drugs in the grocery store? At least an entire isle is set aside for heartburn, constipation, diarrhea, headaches, pain, female issues, allergies, colds, coughs – the list goes on and on. There is more money in treating symptoms – if you cure the illness or affliction, you are no longer a customer.

Nutrition – protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, fiber and many more are all required for optimal health. Like a recipe, 1 missing ingredient and the dish is not as good – same with your health. Nutrition from our food is the best source if you can find or afford organically grown fruits and vegetables, organically raised, grass fed livestock and chickens… Natural based nutritional supplementation must fill in the gaps.
Exercise – Our bodies need to move
Blood circulation, lymph movement, digestion and detoxification are all improved with exercise. Compare it to a car that hasn’t moved in some time – seals dry out, fluids break down, corrosion all occur without movement.
Toxins – Removal of the unnatural poisons in our body that man has created
Man has created over 70,000 chemicals, many of which are unhealthy, causing disease, inflammation, DNA damage and cellular death. These toxins are consumed in the air we breath, water and food we consume and every other un-natural product we consume, bath in or put upon our body.
Pathogens – Removal of bad germs, viruses, fungus, yeasts and parasites
This may be the one exception where a drug can cure rather than just mask the symptoms although there are many effective natural alternatives to drugs. Notice I said bad germs / bacteria, our digestive system and immune systems require “good bacteria” in our gut to assimilate nutrition from our food and displace or kill bad bacteria, yeasts, food poisoning… The good bacteria in our gut is said to comprise 80% of our immune function.
Mindset – Positive attitude, relieve stress, promote happiness, have purpose
Our minds are very powerful influences on our health. Psychosomatic illnesses are negative manifestations of our thoughts/mindset and are very real. A strong will to survive, abundant happiness and positive thinking go far in maintaining health and relieving stress – another killer.

Don’t fall for every fad or “miracle supplement” out there but filter it with common sense and more natural health information. There is a lot of good information out there and a lot of crap. I have 7 natural health subscriptions to various print and online information websites. For me, it has improved my health immensely and is well worth it. Read some books, go online and find some health secrets.
Blocked arteries are not a death sentence or a life sentence to using heart drugs. There are natural alternatives to expensive and dangerous drugs. So called cholesterol drugs – statins are actually dangerous and rob your heart of vital coenzyme Q10 or CoQ10. Coenzyme Q10 is necessary for cell energy and your heart needs lots of it. Why would you take something that robs your heart of CoQ10?
Cholesterol is not the heart disease factor it is made out to be. Inflammation, free radicals and fibrin are much bigger problems as far as blocked arteries goes. Arteries are damaged by free radicals, cholesterol and fibrin are the body’s attempt to repair the artery. It is when the cholesterol patch to the arterial wall is hardened by oxidizing from more free radicals or calcified by too much calcium in the blood and/or fibrin not dissolving after it’s short term patching function . Doctor Hiroyuki Sumi discovered nattokinase in 1980 while working as a researcher and majoring in physiological chemistry at Chicago University Medical School. The thrombus around the natto dissolved gradually and had completely dissolved within 18 hours.
Blood clots (or thrombi) form when strands of protein called fibrin accumulate in a blood vessel. In the heart, blood clots cause blockage of blood flow to muscle tissue. If blood flow is blocked, the oxygen supply to that tissue is cut off and it eventually dies. This can result in angina and heart attacks. Clots in chambers of the heart can mobilize to the brain. In the brain, blood clots also block blood and oxygen from reaching necessary areas, which can result in senility and/or stroke.

Dr. Wright: Presently, my recommendations for breaking up clots are:
Nattokinase — two 138-milligram capsules every four hours to start. Then, as your condition improves, you can taper off to one capsule every four hours, eventually taking only one capsule three times daily.
Fish oil — 1 tablespoon three times a day to start, tapering off to 1 tablespoon, twice daily after some progress is made. Eventually, you will be able to take a general maintenance dose of 1 1/2 tablespoonful daily.
Vitamin E (mixed tocopherols) — 400 IU, three times a day to start, tapering down to 600 IU daily.
Vitamin C — 2 grams, three times daily to start, then taper down to 1 gram, three times daily. Vitamin C isn’t a “clotbuster” itself, but it should always be included when your body is under stress.
